Senior Editor
EDWARD D. SARGENT launched his career as a journalist at the age of 15 as a cub reporter for The Washington Informer, an award-winning weekly newspaper in Washington, D.C. He attended the School of Journalism at the University of Missouri-Columbia, where he graduated with a degree in magazine editing and design. He parlayed an internship at The Washington Post into a full-time Reporter position. Sargent developed a reputation for going wherever the stories led him, covering everything from community events to White House press conferences. His stories at The Washington Post appeared in nearly every section of the newspaper, to include the front page. He possesses an alert nose for news and is an adept interviewer. He has a flair for eliciting great quotes from sources.
Sargent made a successful transition from covering the daily news to serving as a dynamic law enforcement spokesman when he became the Public Information Officer for the D.C. Department of Corrections. Using savvy media management and creative press releases and press conferences, Sargent lifted the profile of the prison system and advocated for total transparency, which ended years of coverup and deception from the top down.
Sargent has worked as a technical writer for major, high-end technology corporations, such as Northrop Grumman, and has worked as a book editor and news media director for Dr. Claud Anderson, author of the groundbreaking book: PowerNomics.
Sargent has won praise from numerous clients, such as Dr. Anderson, who credited him for “his commitment to this (PowerNomics) project and for his encouragement and assistance in shaping issues.”
Sargent has operated a successful job training program for Black youths in the inner city of the Nation’s Capital and is an award-winning speaker. A visionary leader with a track record of increasing media exposure and adding value to a wide range of projects, Sargent can be depended upon to dedicate high energy and commitment to each of his clients.
